Planar biaxial geogrids APROLAT®

The biaxial geogrid APROLAT is flat polymeric material with lattice pattern and rigid joints for forming a cell. The biaxial geogrid is produced by extrusion with subsequent longitudinal and transverse orientation.

Biaxial geogrids are made of specific polypropylene that guarantees durability of the material in all areas of use. Polypropylene is more resistant to aggressive environments, which is important for use in layers containing lime, cement, and other alkaline environments. In addition, geosynthetic materials made of polypropylene are not subject to rot, decay, and the formation of mold.

The main function of the APROLAT geogrid lies in strengthening separate base layers and in re-distribution of the load over a larger area. Upon spreading inert material over the geogrid with subsequent compaction, material particles are fixed in the cells creating the effect of a re-inforced slab. The biaxial geogrid APROLAT has outstanding durability in both longitudinal and transverse directions to withstand high static and dynamic loads.

APROLAT geogrids are produced by SRT 2211-003-00320928-2009.

ADVANTAGES OF USING APROLAT® GEOGRIDS:

  • Increasing base bearing capacity;
  • Separating structural layers;
  • Increasing service life of roads and overhaul times, reduced operating costs;
  • Equal distribution of loads;
  • Increasing strength characteristics of roads and other facilities at the expense of equal rubble/ gravel particle jamming in geogrid cells;
  • Reducing rutting on roads;
  • High chemical resistance of polypropylene geogrids in hostile environments, which is important, for example, during construction works of roads on alkaline and acidified soils;
  • Optimisating construction works on weak soils, saving time for replacement of weak soils;
  • Reducing costs of construction works due to possible decline in use of layers of natural aggregates, such as crushed stone.
